UPMA Mission
At UPMA, our heartfelt mission is to support the education of poor and underprivileged children in India. We believe no child should be left behind because of poverty or circumstance. Our goal is to give every child—not just books and uniforms—but the opportunity to dream, learn, and enjoy the simple joys of childhood. In Bundelkhand, we care for over 800 children and run 10 day care centers in Chitrakoot, giving little ones a safe space to grow while their siblings return to school with hope. We also help restore vision to the underprivileged through $25 eye surgeries at Sitapur Eye Hospital—bringing dignity and light to those in darkness. In the Bay Area, UPMA proudly keeps our heritage alive with the biggest Holi celebrations, Dandia Nights with Falguni Pathak, Ashwarya Majumdar and Shri Atul Purohit, and soulful Kavi Sammelans. Every child deserves a chance at a brighter future—and with your support, we’re making that future possible.

About UPMA
UPMA currently provides elementary and secondary school education to 103 children aged 7-12 years at Saidham in Bundelkhand and has set up ten daycare centers for 400 children aged 3-6 years in tribal villages around Chitrakoot. The team expects to double these numbers in 2021.
For just under $2800, UPMA is able to set up and run a daycare center for 35+ children in a village. Most of the tribal living in these villages are extremely poor and since both parents work as farm labor, their younger children aged 3-6 have to be looked after by their older siblings 7-12, leaving both children deprived of any kind of formal schooling. Our goal in setting up the day care centers is to allow the older siblings to attend formal school in the village, while taking care of the pre-schooling needs of the younger ones.
For a mere $100 we are able to support their pre-school needs for year including material needs such as school bags, books, notebooks, writing material, even a uniform and shoes etc.
The reason we are able to do that is because UPMA has virtually no overhead or administrative costs, almost every penny goes to the cause of the children’s education. We might not be affected, but we certainly can make a difference. We need your help to achieve this goal to make a lasting difference and it’s simple.
